Overtime in County Pales in Comparison to That of Top City Employees

Overtime costs look significantly different between La Crosse county and La Crosse city employees. Our examination of the highest paid employees under both governments found that to be the most significant difference between the two sets of workers. In city government, nearly all employees among the top hundred gathered some amount of overtime last year. Overtime costs for those hundred came to around 430 thousand dollars. But in the county, only about a fourth of employees among the top hundred collected overtime last year, yielding a total for that group of only 160 thousand dollars.
