Parking Lot Voter Suppression Plot Unraveled

Written by

Seal-coating, yes.  Voter suppression, probably not.  We had to ask the question of the Onalaska Town clerk after getting this call (on La Crosse Talk PM) yesterday evening claiming some dastardly deeds were underway at the town's polling place

We confirmed with the town clerk Melissa Erdman that, yes, in fact, the parking lot at the town hall was being chipped and sealed during voting yesterday.  But Town of Onalaska votes in the town shop, which had an open parking lot.  Erdman says maybe three voters had to wait a few minutes while a truck backed out of the town hall parking lot but, otherwise, voter access to the polling place was unhindered.  The parking lot work was scheduled for Monday but was pushed back a day because of rain.

A murder suspect in La Crosse was supposed to go on trial next week...but he enters a 'guilty' plea instead.

Pao Vue could get 40 years behind bars when he's sentenced in October for his role in the shooting death of Sara Hougom. Pao said in court today that he was the driver who brought Kong Vue to Hougom's La Crosse apartment building to commit a robbery. And he claims he never got out of the car at that address.

Kong Vue has admitted to shooting Hougom when he spotted her in the apartment as he attempted to steal her purse. While in jail, Pao Vue had told other prisoners that he was the actual gunman, instead of Kong Vue.

Concussions Looked At Logan High School

Written by

The big talk over the summer when it came to youth football is the ever growing cuncussion rate, from Pop Warner to the pro's. At Logan High School, precautions are already taking place to lessen the impact of the head injuries. And Steve Hole, A.D., says it starts away from the football field.

Hole says they are going to look at reducing the number of contact hours in practice and reducing the risk of head contact in practice. As for parents keeping their kids away from the sport, it's not happening at Logan where their numbers increased this year.

Tommy To Face Tammy In November Senate Election

Written by

A tight race between a former governor and a political newcomer for the U-S Senate race in Wisconsin...with the governor winning.

Tommy Thompson moved into the lead over Eric Hovde in the Republican Senate primary about an hour after the polls closed, and was declared the winner around 10:30. Mark Neumann was several points back in third place. Thompson was carrying most of the western and southern counties in the state, with Hovde's strongest showing being in the northeast, near Green Bay. Neumann was carrying several northern counties, and Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald did not have the lead in any county. La Crosse County backed Thompson, with about 18 per cent turnout for the first regular August primary in the state.

Thompson and Hovde Leading In Senate Primary

Written by

A tight race between a former governor and a political newcomer for the U-S Senate race in Wisconsin...

Tommy Thompson moved into the lead over Eric Hovde in the Republican Senate primary, with about half of the precincts in the state reporting. Hovde had the lead early in the night, but neither man has had much more than a three-point advantage.
