Kader Opponents Claim Enough Signatures For Recall

Written by

A group that wants to recall La Crosse's city council president claims it has more than enough signatures to schedule a special election.

The 'Restore La Crosse' Committee reports it has more than 250 signatures from the 11th council district on petitions to recall president Audrey Kader. Only 158 signatures were needed. They'll have to be verified by the city. Kader has been targeted for recall because of recent controversial actions by the city council, including plans to eliminate the monthly public hearings at Committee of the Whole meetings.

New Police Chief Sworn In, Eager To Meet Staff

Written by

La Crosse's new police chief says it takes everybody to make successes...

Ron Tischer is eager to meet with police employees to establish goals for the department. However, Tischer doesn't want details of those plans getting out in public before the department members agree on them.  He also wants to get to work on community problems like alcohol, drugs, and violent crime.  Tischer was sworn in this morning at City Hall. The ceremony was attended by city and county leaders, courthouse officials, and retired Chief Ed Kondracki.

Written by

Another Oktoberfest secret is out...

While her selection was kept secret from the public until this week, Julie learned the news last May, after being invited to a luncheon under phony pretenses.

The last member of the 2012 royal family, the Festmaster, will be introduced at the Festmaster's Ball tomorrow night.
