Residents of Bangor may soon be able to go back to their old post office...
Bangor village president Greg Peterson says renovations at the Post Office are just about complete, and he's just waiting for word from regional postal officials on when that building can reopen. Mold and a mildewy mess led the feds to shut down the post office back in January. But Peterson says the building's landlord has done the necessary repairs and will pay the bills, thought to total around 100-thousand dollars. Postal services were moved to the Hansen's IGA store shortly after the shutdown.
How much of a part did Christina Lorenz play in the death of a friend and the dumping of his body in La Crosse last August?
Families of Lorenz and victim Tony Du Charme have widely different views, which came out in court yesterday when Lorenz was sentenced to prison. Du Charme's relatives accuse Lorenz of being the main supplier of the drug that killed Tony, and they claim she called the shots on how to dispose of his body. Lorenz's father, Belmont, says police records show those claims are not true.
A charge of hiding Du Charme's body was dismissed when Lorenz entered a guilty plea to the homicide charge last April. Another person arrested in the case, Cain Moss, is waiting to be tried for first-degree reckless homicide.
No lack of problems around the state in the June 5th recall election.
The fate of a historic building in La Crosse is still up in the air.
