Alcohol A Factor In Ahmann Crash Into Swift Creek

Written by

A Winona woman died of accidental drowning after a New Year's Eve crash into Swift Creek in La Crosse...

That ruling comes from the La Crosse medical examiner's office, in the death of 21-year-old Ellie Ahmann. Examiner Tim Candahl says alcohol was a factor in the accident, with Ahmann's blood alcohol level at point-1-6-5. Ahmann's car went off Jackson Street near the brewery, went down an embankment, and traveled on the ice before breaking through and sinking in the creek.

Perner Denied New Trial In Girlfriend's Heroin Death

Written by

There will not be a new trial for a La Crosse area man convicted in a drug overdose death...

A state appeals court has turned down the request of Mitchell Perner, who's serving a 12-year prison term for providing heroin to his girlfriend, Shelby Perkins. He claims that he didn't actually deliver the drug to Perkins, because they both got it at the same time. Perner also argued that the trial jury should have been told that the drug dealer was granted immunity for testifying against him. Perkins died in May of 2010.
