Was Dennis Koula planning to stop giving money to his children, just before he was murdered last year?
A statement by Koula about being 'done giving to the kids' can be introduced as evidence at the murder trial of his son, Eric. Judge Scott Horne says he'll instruct the jury at trial that the statement can be viewed as showing Dennis's state of mind. But Horne says it can't be used to establish a possible motive for the murders of Dennis and his wife, Merna.
Investigators believe Eric Koula shot his parents to get money, after going into debt trading stocks. He had received a million dollars from his father in the months before the murders.
