Funeral services are being scheduled for former Viterbo president and chancellor Bill Medland...

The university says Medland died this weekend. He had fought cancer for a long time, dating back to his early years as Viterbo president in the 1990's. Medland was hired as president of Viterbo in 1991, and held the post for a record 15 years, after which he was appointed chancellor. The Viterbo campus experienced physical changes and much construction during the years Medland was in charge, as enrollment and the school's endowment grew rapidly.

It could have cost up to four thousand dollars to spruce up a trio of dinosaurs on display in West Salem...

But one village trustee found a way to keep the repainting cost to just around 100 bucks...and now, the sculptures have been painted to maintain their looks. Village trustee Merlin Wehrs says the metal dinosaurs are a landmark for people traveling in the area.  Wehrs says now that the statues have been fixed up, he'd like to see the village do more to promote them as an attraction.
