Around 1:30 p.m. today, a call came in that someone had fallen off the bluff by Rim of the City Rd.
A rescue operation is underway.
Someone who was with the person that fell made the call.
Jim Hillcoat with the La Crosse Fire Dept. said they're coming down just off Hwy. 16, by Bluff Pass, near some storage lockers.
Check back for more details as they come in.
The search is over...
Somebody has found the Oktoberfest medallion for this year, on the fifth day of the hunt. The name of the finder, and the location where the medallion was hidden, will be made public later today. Last year, the search lasted only four days before the medallion was discovered under a bridge at Houska Park.
After spending two years in county jail for hiding the body of a drug overdose victim, Cain Moss says he's ready for a second chance at life.
But first, Moss will have to serve five more years in a state prison. The 27-year-old La Crosse man was sentenced today for giving drugs to Anthony DuCharme, and for dumping DuCharme's body after he died suddenly in the summer of 2011. Judge Todd Bjerke says prison doesn't necessarily deter people who have been addicted to drugs.
DuCharme's relatives asked for a longer prison sentence for Moss, and Moss's own relatives said that his actions have dishonored the family name.
