Todd Wittenberg had a court date for Tuesday afternoon, at 1:30...
And Wittenberg did make it to court at 1:30...but not in the county where he was supposed to be. The 50-year-old Holmen resident was in La Crosse County court, suspected of heroin possession. At that hour, Wittenberg was scheduled to reach a plea agreement on heroin charges in Trempealeau County. He was one of five people arrested last July during drug raids in the Galesville area.
Former La Crosse Mayor John Medinger is ending his campaign to return to his old job. Medinger just announced his campaign less than two weeks ago, at the urging of backers. He says he's getting out of the race early enough to allow other people to file as candidates before the January 2nd deadline.
Police link a La Crosse man to an October armed robbery by finding that he has items stolen from the victims...
Guns and wallets containing victim I-D's were discovered in the closet of suspect Areschial (uh-RAY-shul) Page. Investigator Andrew Rosenow says a police informant heard Page admit to planning the robbery at a 5th Avenue home.
Judge Scott Horne rules that there's enough evidence to try Page and De'Aaron Appleton for the October robbery. Horne also denied a request to lower Page's bond of 25-thousand dollars.
A Black River Falls man will face a homicide charge after he was involved in a fatal crash earlier this year. Jackson County D.A. Gerald Fox has charged Thomas Jahnke with homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. Police say Jahnke had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit the night of the crash.
(AP) Gov. Scott Walker says there are no perfect solutions to preventing a repeat of last week's mass shooting at a Connecticut elementary school. During an interview Tuesday, Walker says it will take several weeks to get a true answer on what led to the killings at Sandy Hook Elementary, where a 20-year-old gunman killed 20 children and six adults before taking his own life.
