A beauty pageant winner recently got plenty of public attention just by sitting in the stands at a football game.
The reigning Miss Alabama from the Miss USA Pageant was singled out for compliments by sportscaster Brent Musberger while watching her boyfriend play in the N-C-A-A championship game. Are pageant contestants annoyed by that kind of behavior? Recent Miss America contestant Kate Gorman says, it comes with the territory. Gorman, from Onalaska, represented Wisconsin at the Miss America finals in Las Vegas last week. She jokes that she hasn't been asked out for dates with college quarterbacks.
(AP) The first firearms bill introduced in the Minnesota Legislature this session would make it harder for convicted felons who've served their time to regain the right to own a gun. The bill by Sen. Barb Goodwin, DFL-Columbia Heights, would eliminate the right of violent felons to petition courts for restoration of their gun ownership rights. Goodwin wants to transfer responsibility for those decisions to the Board of Pardons. The bill is just one of what could be several proposals to change Minnesota's liberal gun laws.
(AP) After more than 10 years of planning, construction of the new Interstate 90 bridge that crosses the Mississippi River at Dresbach, Minn., is expected to begin Monday.
(AP) About 130 members of the Wisconsin Army National Guard are coming home. They've been in the U.S. since early last week, but they've been de-mobilizing at a camp in Mississippi. They'll be welcomed back to Wisconsin on Friday afternoon during a celebration in Oshkosh. Most of the troops are part of the Oshkosh-based 1157th Transportation Company.
