City Panel Agrees to Second Delay in Garbage RulesLast June, when the La Crosse public works board started work on refining the city's garbage rules, they hoped to have the new rules in place by the time college students evacuated the city this May. Now the board has put that deadline in doubt by agreeing to a second month-long delay on the rules as critics complain about the scope of the new regulations.

Among the biggest complaints from landlords on the new rules are ones that involve limiting big item pick-up and increasing the requirements for using dumpsters at rentals. Second Big Drug Bust in Stretch of Four Days for La Crosse PoliceThe second big drug bust for La Crosse cops in a matter of days. On Friday it was a married couple selling pot out of their southside trailer. Yesterday it was a couple guys selling crack and marijuana on the streets of La Crosse. Police used a sting operation to nab Jamario McKnight, who admitted to coming to La Crosse from Chicago to sell drugs because he'd heard there's good money to be made in La Crosse. Apparently so; they found a couple thousand dollars on him. Shane Tucker was also arrested in the bust. He's currently out on bond for dealing drugs. A married couple has been busted for dealing pot in La Crosse. Police got a crimestoppers tip about the couple who they arrested on Friday. They say 29 year-olds Jeremy and Jennifer Jenkins have been dealing marijuana out of their southside trailer. Cops found a couple pounds of pot and thousands of dollars in the Quail drive trailer along with some pot brownies, psychedelic mushroom brownies and numerous types of prescription drugs. Police also found the couple's children, three and six years-old, who are now being cared for by relatives.
