U-W-L Gets Its Biggest Estate Gift Ever

Colleges often ask alumni to remember their old school in their wills...and one graduate of U-W-La Crosse has done that, generously.

A donation of almost one-point-seven million dollars is being called the largest gift ever made from an estate to U-W-L. The money comes from the estate of 1935 La Crosse graduate Lillian Clark George and her husband, Theodore George. Theodore passed away last year, and Lillian died in 2003. The gift from the Georges will permit U-W-L to give out about 65-thousand dollars in new scholarships every year. Part of the George estate also went to Theodore's old college, the Catholic University of America.
