Vernon County Deputies Busy Thursday Night

Several people are in the hospital after a couple of car crashes in Vernon

County last night.

Four young people were transported to the Viroqua hospital after their car went out of control while trying to make a curve on a gravel road.  The car hit a culvert and overturned.  A 17-year-old boy from Viroqua was driving.

In Genoa, a woman lost control of her car on Highway 35, and ended up on a nearby railroad track, where the car was hit by a freight train at around 10:30 last night.  Danyel Smith of Stoddard was taken to Gundersen in La Crosse for treatment.  Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
