Whitehall Voting Tonight on Mine Annexation

Another vote tonight on a pending hundred million dollar frac sand mining project in Trempealeau county.  Though the county has a mining moratorium in place currently, the cities of Whitehall and Independence are in the process of annexing the mining site from the town of Lincoln.  Not the ideal situation, says town board chair Jack Speerstra.  But the mining company has given some quality of life guarantees as well as a one time half million dollar payment to the town

Independence city council voted for the annexation last week.  Whitehall city council votes tonight.
