Sheriff And Van Hollen Talk About Koula Arrest

Law officers from throughout the La Crosse area showed up for this news conference...and so did the state attorney general.

They were present today as La Crosse County Sheriff Steve Helgeson spoke about the arrest of 40-year-old Eric Koula for the May shooting deaths of his parents. Helgeson says financial gain was Eric's motive for killing Dennis and Merna Koula. Attorney General J-B Van Hollen touted the state's assistance in the murder probe...and said D-A Tim Gruenke can't tell as much as he would like to about the case.  Gruenke says Eric Koula was interviewed more than once about the murders, but he won't say how early Eric was considered a suspect.  Dennis and Merna were shot separately on May 21st...Merna while working at her home computer, and Dennis as he was walking in the front door.  Eric called 9-1-1 three days later, claiming he had discovered his parents' bodies while checking on them.
