Latest MVC Purchase Possible With Stewarship Cash

Big purchases like the one just made by the Mississippi Valley Conservancy may get a little more challenging to make in the future for organizations around the state.  The La Crosse-based organization turned 900 thousand dollars of the state Knowles Nelson Stewardship into four hundred acres of a preserved site on the edge of Boscobel.  But that very fund was cut by tens of millions in the latest state budget.  Hard to do their work without that money, says MVC director Tim Jacobson

The Boscobel purchase was the second largest grant ever for the MVC.  The largest was nearly a million dollars to preserve a grassland area near Holmen.
