Educators Gather In Atlanta

One issue being discussed this week at the 155th National Education Association Representative Assembly in Georgia are interest rates on federally subsidized Stafford student loans. They doubled this week, soaring from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent after Congress failed to reach a deal.

Betsy Kippers, Wisconsin Education Association Council President-elect says it's flat out not fair to students.

She will join 10 thousand other educators in at the conference this week. Other topics being discussed include school vouchers and common core state standards.
