Houston County Slammed By Storms

Early damage estimates from weekend storms in Houston County are right around

$2 million. At 3 p.m. on Sunday, Houston County Commissioners declared the county under a State of Emergency.

At last count, there were at least 15 roads either closed or damaged from Friday night to Sunday afternoon. A list can be found on Houston County's website.

Three highways in Houston County were reopened Sunday after being closed because of high water and flooding. The Minnesota DOT told us that Highway 26 at Houston County Road 14, Highway 16 between Houston and Hokah and Highway 76 between Houston and Caledonia were all opened up back to traffic late Sunday. The DOT says drivers should plan ahead and stay away from flooded roads.
