Billings Criticizes Budget Plan
Might not be easy sailing in the Wisconsin state senate today for a budget bill. At least not as easy yesterday when a controversial $70 billion spending bill passed the assembly with neither debate nor Democratic amendment. But only because those amendments weren't going to be allowed, says La Crosse state rep Jill Billings
In the meantime, she suggests, republicans will have to reap the public scorn that will inevitably follow a two-year spending plan that funds private schools at the expense of public, refuses a federally-funded medicaid expansion, and creates a structural deficit for the state while funding a tax break that benefits mostly the wealthy.
