Local Charges Turn To Fed Charges For La Crosse Man

A 30 year old La Crosse man that was arrested by La Crosse Police for several

drug counts back in April, has now been federally indictded. Jonathan Banaszkiewicz was charged with delivery of meth, possession of meth and a felon in possession of a firearm. Today in the U.S. District Court for the Western District Court of Wisconsin, Banaszkiewicz was indicted on Federal drug and weapons charges.

Banaszkiewicz allegedly sold meth to an informant and then ran from a Jackson Street home while investigators were waiting for a search warrant. During the chase, officers saw Banaszkiewicz toss a handgun away. Besides picking up the tossed gun, officers found meth and dextroamphetamine on him when he was searched. More drugs were found in his house.

Banaszkiewicz has previous convictions for drugs and gun possession. At the time of his arrest, he was on probation for a previous conviction for felon in possession of a firearm and possession of meth.
