Saving $3.5 Million in Energy Costs More than Turning Off Lights
Funny to think that turning off a couple of light switches could save a few million dollars in energy costs. Funny. And inaccurate, says Kermit King, energy manager with the la crosse school district. His conservation efforts have been credited with saving three and a half million dollars for the district since 2002. Requires a lot of close attention in a lot of areas and the trick, King says, is powering down lights, heating systems and other things when kids don't need them but also to make sure everything's running at peak efficiency when students are around.
