Education Funding Takes Hot Seat In Madison Today

All educational eyes will be on Madison today as the Legislature’s
Finance Committee meets to discuss public school funding and the governor’s proposed expansion of private school choice. We asked La Crosse School District Business Manager, Janet Rossitter if she has a feeling of what will evolve from the meetings.

Senate President Mike Ellis and Education chairman Luther Olsen have favored a slight property tax increase to give an extra $200 million plus to public schools. Assembly leaders recently got behind the use of a higher than expected state surplus to fund an additional $100 million plus.
