Police Policy Hides Drunk Drivers From Public

You can get busted for drunk driving mostly in secret now in La Crosse.  Police have begun enforcing their new policy to block the release of any driver's license information, even in the case of OWI arrests.  City police say their policy is set based on advice from the city's insurer and the city attorney, suggesting the city could face legal liability if it releases any personal information that was gathered from drivers license records.  City cops say they had plenty of drunk driving arrests over the long week-end.  But, for now, we'll just have to take their word for it.
