Shooting Spoiled Relative Calm of Southside Neighborhood

Jason Devine has learned not to count on peace and quiet in his neighborhood.  So a gunshot near his home on the southside of La Crosse last week wasn't that surprising.   What was surprising was that it didn't come from the eight-plex right next to him.  That building, at 1321 south 4th, was the first in the city to get tagged with a public nuisance property label last year.  But things have gotten much better since that.  At least until last Wednesday's shooting

Police say last week's shooting involved the building next to 1321.  Nobody was hurt.  But cops did have to dig a bullet from the house of Devine's elderly neighbor.
