New TIF in the Works for La Crosse

Creation of a new TIF district could be on the way for the city of La Crosse.  The city's been in negotiations with Chart and Trane company for months on a deal to help with infrastructure needs for an expansion at the Trane plant on Losey boulevard.  The council's finance committee tonight considers creating the latest of the city's complicated finance plans that borrows money and pays off the loan through tax money collected from extra development that occurs through the TIF.  TIF 15 was supposed to be for the area on George street near the La Crosse Rubber Mills building, but a developer backed out of plans for the site.
