You'd think with all this snow that farmers are jumping for joy that the soil will be perfect for planting. Nope....not the case says Steve Huntzicker with the UW-La Crosse Extension.

Due to the frozen ground, only a small portion of this moisture actually made it into the soils. The remainder either remains in the existing snow pack or has melted and has already entered area rivers and streams. Huntzicker says good Spring rains are needed.
