Pentagon Wants Base Closures Again
Will Fort McCoy be on the chopping blocks if base closures get a round 2? The Army training base passed the first round a few years ago but the Pentagon is asking congress to close some bases again. Linda Fournier says soldier training is one big reason they stay afloat.
Although defense officials have been calling for the closure and consolidation of bases for more than a year, only Congress can authorize the closing process, in which a bipartisan panel studies potential options for closures and then presents its recommendations for a vote.
