Park Name Change Would Celebrate La Crosse Olympian

A name change of a La Crosse park seems like a no-brainer move for Steve Carlyon.  The city's park and rec director needs park board approval tonight to change the name of Hood park.  Carlyon wants to name the park after George Coleman Poage (pohg).  Carlyon says everyone he talks to about Poage is surprised to find out who he was

Poage received bronze medals in two events at the St. Louis olympics in 1904.  The Hood park name, meanwhile, came from the surveyor who originally mapped the area.
