Top lawmakers from both parties in Minnesota have said they want to help one of the state's largest private employers, Mayo Health Systems, but many are worried about setting a precedent that other companies and communities would come to expect. Mayo representatives testified Thursday that the risk was largely on them, but lawmakers say they are mindful that they could be setting a precedent that other companies and communities would come to expect. The Destination Medical Center proposal flew through the House Jobs and Economic Development Committee.
