Liquid Or Powder? Holmen's Not Going To Switch Fluoride Method

Looks like the village of Holmen is not going to make changes in its fluoridation system, when it resumes the water treatment later this year.

The main reason? Switching from liquid fluoride to a powder would cost too much, says village public works director Dean Olson. One village board member had suggested using a powder fluoride treatment, because it might be safer than the chemical that had been used in Holmen. Fluoridation was shut off in Holmen two years ago, just days after it started, because opponents were concerned that too much fluoride was being put into the drinking water.
