Unity House Loses Drugs in Theft
A treatment house for substance abuse is the latest
target for thieves
looking for prescription drugs. La Crosse police
say the Unity House on the northside was ripped off for 18 thousand dollars
worth of prescription narcotics. Cops say the break-in occurred while an
attendant at the house was taking Unity residents to an addiction counseling
meeting on Saturday. The thief apparently knew what he was looking for; he
went right to a locked box where the drugs are kept and took the whole
thing. A crowbar was left behind at the scene and swabbed for DNA but, so
far, no suspects.
