No Lead Poisonings Of Eagles So Far
Earlier this week, we told you about a pair of eagles born in Decorah last year that were found electrocuted recently. Well another life threatening problem eagles face is poisoning by eating lead bullet fragments. Bob Anderson, founder of the Decorah Eagle Cam, says so far so good this winter.
The Minnesota and Iowa state Department of Natural Resources are working with outdoor retailer Cabelas in an effort to persuade deer hunters to use copper ammunition instead of lead. 5 eagles in recent years have been found poisoned locally.
