Construction On New Dresbach Bridge Likely To Start This Year

MN DOT spokeswoman Kristin Kammueller tells us foundation work could begin this winter on a site north of the existing Dresbach bridge. Because of that location, Kristin says a popular rest stop near the bridge will soon be off-limits to drivers of big rigs. Plans also call for replacing the sharp right turn required to go to Wisconsin from the northbound lane of Highway 61.
The new four-lane bridge is expected to open in 2016. No plans have been made for the existing bridge, which has been used for more than 40 years.
