New Ideas For Holmen Fire Funding May Be Considered

A three-way agreement for fire protection in one part of La Crosse County is still under dispute...

The town of Onalaska remains unsatisfied with a funding formula for the Holmen Fire District, requiring the town to split costs evenly with Holmen and the town of Holland. Holmen village president Nancy Proctor wants to see all three communities reach agreement, for the good of everyone.

The fire district board meets tomorrow night. Onalaska town leaders argue that they pay too much money into the system, compared to the number of fire calls they have.
