More than five thousand dollars was raised over the weekend in La Crosse, to help fund a suicide prevention group.

Dave Clements of the La Crosse Convention Bureau says this was the fourth year of the fund-raiser at Schmidty's restaurant.  Clements founded the 'Joe Was Just Joe Foundation' after his son committed suicide nearly five years ago. A silent auction brought in much of the money, including 125 dollars for a poster promoting a 1985 John Mellencamp concert at the La Crosse Center, when Clements was the center manager.
