A domestic dispute, a restraining order, and a standoff apparently all led to a shooting in Jackson County last night...

Twenty-five-year-old Robert Schafer of Taylor is being treated at Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse, after reportedly being shot once at the home of a woman he knows. The woman has a restraining order against Schafer. The shooter, identifed as Jarrod Thompson of Ettrick, says he warned Schafer that he had a gun, but Schafer kept approaching him. Schafer drove away from the house, and was later given a ride to a hospital. No charges have resulted yet from the shooting.
