National Police Week Begins With Awards Ceremony

National Police Week this week. It's always the week that includes Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is on Saturday. This week in La Crosse begins with a public awards ceremony for police and community members. Chief Ed Kondracki loves to recognize what people in the community do to take a bite out of crime.   He says it's heartwarming to see the efforts regular people take on a regular basis, doing things as simple as keeping an eye out for the neighbors and copying down license plate numbers on suspicious cars.  Tonight's awards ceremony will concentrate on the efforts of police reserves and the hundreds of volunteers hours they contributed in the city this year.
