Third Time Could Be the Charm for City Budget
Another kick at the can on La Crosse's spending
plan for next year.
The city council will meet again today to massage the
upcoming budget after new property tax figures came in a few thousand dollars
less than planned. The first approved budget drew the ire of mayor Matt
Harter after a few council members refused to take money from the city's
reserves in order to keep the city's tax rate from increasing. The council
met a second time and agreed to budget with reserves, keeping a flat tax rate
intact. Today's budget meeting will be the third held this month.
