City Council Changes Tune on Reserves and Taxes

No property tax increase after all from the city of La Crosse. After voting last week to raise taxes rather than take money from the city's reserve fund, the council reversed course at a special meeting yesterday.  Councilman Chris Olson pushed for the reconsideration.  He says avoiding tapping the reserve fund makes little sense since it's going to only get bigger in the coming year

The council will tap the 19 million dollar reserve to the tune of fifty grand in order to avoid raising property taxes.
