Minnesota Talks Turkey All The Time

They produce big birds. And millions of them. Minnesota Turkey Growers Association Executive Director Steve Olson says modern turkey farms are able to raise bigger birds and use less feed. He says they used to raise birds to about 21 weeks of age to 21 pounds and now they're bringing those birds up to 45 pounds with half the feed. And they are now raised inside barns.

And the techniques must be working. Minnesota is currently ranked #1 for turkey production in the U.S..........raising approximately 46 million turkeys in 2011.
