Logan High School Honors One Of Their Own

Logan High School students honored a former Logan student who lost his life

in Afghanistan last spring at a Veteran’s Day ceremony this morning. Cpl. Alex Martinez joined the Marines after high school and lost his life on April 5, 2012 after giving three years of military service to our country. Martinez was killed from a roadside bomb explosion, just one month before his second tour of duty was to end. Logan High School students in Ann Koth’s English class were moved to action when they learned of the story of Martinez service and death.

In addition, they were looking for a way to support Martinez’s brother and current Logan Senior, Brandon Martinez. Koth’s class worked to raise funds to purchase an engraved stone in memory of Alex that will be placed near the north entrance of Logan High School. That stone arrived at the school this week.
