Holmen Clashes With Town Of Ona On Fire Costs

Not all fire service is created equal...

That's one stumbling block holding up a new agreement on fire protection for Holmen and the towns of Holland and Onalaska. Last week, the Onalaska town board voted to withdraw from the fire district unless Holmen pays more of the cost, since it gets the vast majority of calls. Holmen administrator Scott Heinig says charging by the call is not fair to his community.  Heinig claims if the town of Onalaska withdraws at the end of 2013, as it threatens to do, then Holmen and Holland will continue their partnership.
