Noon Is New Time For Road Closing At Genoa Nuke Plant

A temporary closure of Highway 35 at Genoa today is being postponed until noon.

The road will be closed near the Dairyland power plant, so spent nuclear fuel can be transported to a storage site down the road. The fuel has been kept at the main plant in Genoa since the nuclear reactor there was shut down in 1987, as a cost-cutting measure.
