Park Board Officially Cancels Sand-Sculpting Festival

The sand in the hourglass has run out for that festival of sand-sculpting along the Mississippi in La Crosse...

The city park board has granted permission for Riverfront, Incorporated to cancel its reservation of Riverside Park for three days this August. Riverfront's board recently decided to end the Sand on the Riverfront festival, citing dwindling sponsorships.

The festival ran for 10 years. Corporate-sponsored teams would spend a Friday building large sand sculptures which would remain on display through the weekend.
