Billings Speaks Out Against Bill

Wisconsin workers are one step closer to losing protections against employment discrimination after a bill that would repeal the Equal Pay Enforcement Act passed on a partisan vote Tuesday night. Senate Bill 202 and its Assembly companion would eliminate a deterrent to workplace discrimination by revoking an individual’s right to damages for employment discrimination. State Rep. Jill Billings of La Crosse commented on the bill.

Billings says she was shocked to see that a bill revoking rights of women to equal pay was being debated on the
Assembly floor. Billings says Wisconsin’s motto is Forward,
but this legislation seems like a giant step backwards.
