Former Jailer Back In Court

A former Monroe County jailer, who is charged with sexually assaulting an inmate and writing 20 sexually explicit letters to her, was back in a Monroe County Courtroom this morning. 26 year old Jerry Friedl of Sparta stood mute to the four felony charges.  Monroe County Judge, Mark Goodman, entered a not guilty plea on behalf Friedl to felony counts of second degree sexual assault.

Friedl is accused of sexually assaulting the female inmate in August  of last year outside the view of cameras. The woman testified today that Friedl passed her a piece of candy and note instructing her to insert it into her body so that he could have it. She did what he asked because she said she cared for him and gave it back, but he asked her to do it again. It was then when she contacted police because she felt the assaults had gone too far.

Friedl will be back in court in April.
