Will Year Round Schools Work

There would still be the same number of school days, but at Hamilton Elementary School instead of a long summer break there would be a number of shorter, strategic ones. That's the plan being looked for 2013. So why is year round school being looked at now?

Superintendent Randy Nelson says the schedule being explored is known as the 45-15 model. That means there would be 45 days in sessions, followed by a 15 day break. There would still be a summer break, but likely in the neighborhood of five weeks. Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha all currently have a year-round school. But the school being most closely looked at is in the Rochester district because of the similarities in the make up of students and size of the school.
