Clerk Says No Decision on Hypothetical Referendum

Still no opinion from the La Crosse city clerk's office regarding dueling referendums.   We've asked the clerk to determine whether a city council proposed referendum regarding a city administrator or one that could arise from a petition on the issue would be on the ballot if the petition drive is successful.  Leader of the petition drive, Dave Drewes, says he's confident that his measure would have priority because the petition drive started last week prior to the council opting to go to a referendum on the issue.  But the clerk's office says it's premature to draw legal conclusions before the petition measure goes to the city council.
