Council Overrides Weapons Veto

As expected, an override of La Crosse mayor Matt Harter's veto of a weapons ban in city buildings.  Not as expected, the margin for the veto was close.  12 city council members voted to override Harter's veto at a meeting last night.  Exactly the number needed for the override.  The council had originally voted 16 to 1 for the weapons ban.  Harter had argued that a weapons ban actually made city buildngs less safe.   The La Crosse center and libraries, operated by independent boards, could still allow weapons.
