Taxes Drop and Fees Increase in New City Budget

Not a whole lot of arguments about a $74 million budget for the city of La Crosse next year.   Tuesday night's budget hearing produced sparks primarily over the $634 thousand in new fees and fines that are part of the city's budget plan for 2012.  City council member Jim Bloedorn, one of those adamantly opposed to the fees



The budget approved by the council would decrease the city portion of an average property owners tax bill by about two bucks over last year.
